Hi I’m 21 years old and when I was 14 a friend and I were arrested by the Chicago police for shop lifting. We never went to court and I don’t even think we were prosecuted of anything but we did however get finger prints and mugshots taken. This was in 2003, lets fast forward to 2009.
Right now I’m a Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice student at a Jr College and I’m also thinking about joining the Army when I finish some time next year. I haven’t been in any trouble since that one incident, well I got 4 tickets over the past 4 years, 2 parking tickets and 2 traffic violations, one for blowing a stop sign and the other for going 40 in a 35 late at night on an empty road as I was on my way back home to the city from work, God I hate Park Ridge cops. I went to court for both of the traffic violations and got off on both, the judge laughed at the speeding violation and dismissed it because he knew that it was just a bullshit waste of time, the cop was also there and he was pissed, tough shit I guess.
My main problem however, is that recently I tried applying for a security guard job and was turned down. The company did a background check with the Illinois State Police and the FBI and told me that I was clear with the State Police but I wasn’t with the FBI. I then called the State Police to see what was going because when I heard “FBI” I freaked and didn’t know what the hell could’ve been going on, I thought maybe they were monitoring my computer for illegal downloading or something. The Police Officer that I spoke with told me that because I got into trouble that one time as a Juvenile that the FBI still kept track of my prints and mugshot and that Security Companies look into that when allowing people to get PERK cards. She also told me that since it was my only offense and a Juvenile offense, no less, that I would have no problem getting it expunged, which is what I’m trying to do right now.
Is what the Police Officer said to me correct or what else could be going on?
I also got my finger prints taken again when applying for the job

We live in Peoria. I’m 20 years old and want to go to school, but loans are becoming increasingly harder to get here, and I want to go into law enforcement. My father is 49 and has a CDL, and the economy here is about to fall. This is Caterpillar headquarters, but Cat is about ready to pick up and leave. When that happens, the economy here is going to crash. It’s already bad enough as it is, and we don’t want to be around to see it happen. What states (more specifically, what cities) have decent job markets, and decent schools that I would be able to get into? Climate doesn’t matter, job availability and school does.

I’ve got a potential job opportunity in Illinois, but I am currently living in Michigan. I went to the interview and although the company seems okay (no worse or better than others that I’ve worked for) but I’m still really hesitant to take the job because it would require me to move. I’ve been getting some other potential jobs too from recruiters for similar pay and may be just as good, except they are in my own state, so they are a lot more appealing. But the Illinois job would supposedly be a real boost to my career (according to the recruiter). I don’t have any family in Illinois and I’d be going all by myself and I don’t see myself making too many friends over there either. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole short life. Am I just being too stubborn about moving?

There are no jobs for me out here. I’m 51 years old. I am seriously thinking of retiring at 51 or 52 years of age to collect my social security. How do I go about the process of retiring now instead of 65 years old? I need some help and advice. Thank-you in advance for your help.

I know this guy who has been collecting unemployment from his previous job. He now has a new job but plans to continue collecting until his benefits run out.
I’d hate to be “that guy” that reports, but I cant stand the fact that most of us are busting our butts working and trying to make ends meet, while he’s getting 2 incomes, and slides through the cracks.
What can I do to report this? And would I be able to remain anonymous thru it all?

I live in Chicago, Illinois (if that helps) and want to get a summer job. I think Jewel would be a great place to start, because they hire at 16 (I asked them). I would like to be a cashier. I definitely DO NOT want to be a bagger. Is there any way that I can become a cashier right off the bat or do I have to bag first?

Looks like a bunch of things that need to get done and people without jobs can work to get them done.
Oh and first on the list… I wouldn’t give two cents for the opinion of the Bush energy department.

Me and a friend really need to get a job this summer that we could possibly still have during the school year to start saving up for college expenses and whatnot. I also need to pay for summer school classes (at 75 bucks a semester, totaling a whopping 225 bucks that I’m gonna have to repay my grandmother) and I need to gete a new iPod, because my other one got stolen and I probably won’t be getting another one unless I get it myself….So input on how much I would be making would help tremendously.
I also don’t have a car or a liscense yet, so I have to rely on the CTA to get around, so I’d rather work somewhere around or in the Loop preferably.
I also have zero work experience. xD
